📣Breaking News: A Historic Win for Kids with Cancer 💛

Dear Brave Like McKenna Family,

Breaking News!

Today, the Mikaela Naylon Give Kids a Chance Act officially passed Congress and will now head to the President’s desk to be signed into law.

This moment has been years in the making and it is a historic victory for the pediatric cancer community.

Two years ago, Keith and I were in Germany, desperately searching for options for McKenna. During that time, we had our first meeting with Nancy Goodman of Kids v Cancer and asked a simple but heartbreaking question:
“What can we do to help kids like McKenna who are literally searching the world for treatment?”

This bill is part of that answer.

What This Means for Kids with Cancer

This is the most comprehensive childhood cancer legislation passed in more than a decade. It will:

  • Hold drug companies accountable by penalizing those who fail to meet pediatric study requirements
  • Allow drugs to be studied in combination, not just in isolation
  • Reauthorize the Rare Pediatric Disease Priority Review Voucher, encouraging drug development for rare cancers like McKenna’s
  • Push forward the urgent need for better, less toxic treatments for children

In short... it brings hope, accountability, and progress to a system that has failed our kids for far too long.

Advocating for McKenna... and All Kids

For the past 11 months, Keith has worked tirelessly alongside senators from multiple states, joining Zoom calls, writing emails, and showing up at the Capitol to advocate for our brave McKenna.

He shared her story so they would understand that this fight isn’t political... it’s about children.
And that’s something we can all agree on.

Keith continues to fight not only for McKenna, but for every child who came before her and every child who will come after her.

This Happened Because of YOU

We want to thank YOU, our Brave Like McKenna community.
You called.
You wrote.
You emailed.
You stood up.

This victory belongs to a community that refused to stay silent and chose to stand together for kids who deserve better.

From the bottom of our hearts... thank you for helping turn pain into purpose and advocacy into action.

Today, McKenna’s legacy changed the future for children with cancer.

With deep gratitude and hope,
Keith and Janell Royer
